A dermal filler made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), Sculptra is injected into skin to improve its structure and stimulate collagen production. Unlike dermal fillers that add volume immediately, Sculptra works gradually over time by stimulating your body's own collagen production. Used to address wrinkles, folds, and loss of volume, it can be used on either the body or face.

As Sculptra increases collagen, skin volume is restored, and skin elasticity is enhanced. This increased collagen also creates a smoother, firmer skin texture, reducing the appearance of skin issues ranging from enlarged pores to deep nasolabial folds. Sculptra can be injected into depressed areas to help fill them out and create a smoother, more even skin surface, addressing even deep, recessed stretch marks. Sculptra is minimally invasive and safe for all skin tones.

      What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is a biostimulatory injectable designed to improve the structural framework of the face as it ages. Sculptra Injections offer a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that isn’t just a temporary quick fix but actually improves the health and quality of your skin long term.

This FDA-approved injectable gradually helps restore lost facial volume by helping to support your skin’s inner structure. Sculptra triggers your skin's natural regenerative processes to help replenish lost facial collagen. The increase in collagen production supports the functions of both hyaluronic acid and elastin, so your skin appears more elastic, firmer, with a youthful, hydrated look.

      What conditions does Sculptra treat?

Here at One Agora Integrative Health, we leverage the powerful effects of Sculptra Injections to address aesthetic concerns like:

      • Fine lines or wrinkles
      • Deeper skin folds and wrinkles (e.g., marionette lines and nasolabial folds)
      • Volume loss
      • Facial contouring
      • Skin imperfections
      • Enlarged pores
      • Loose, thin or crepey skin
      • Scarring (including burn or acne scars)
      • Chin wrinkles
      • Stretch marks (especially depressed, white stretch marks)

Sculptra also has several popular off-label uses for cellulite, chest wrinkles, non-surgical butt-lifts, and wrinkling on joints like knees or elbows.

Sculptra can function as a stand-alone treatment or work alongside many other treatments that we offer for skin rejuvenation.

      Benefits of Sculptra Injections

Perhaps its greatest benefit is how long its results last – up to two years. Sculptra has many other benefits as well, including:

      • Increases production collagen and supports the work of elastin and hyaluronic acid
      • Stimulates natural healing
      • Can be repeated as needed – Sculptra Injections are a treatment process that can be used multiple times in same area or in multiple areas on your body.
      • Combines well with other treatments - Sculptra Injections alone can help you achieve amazing results, but many times, we combine the use of Sculptra Injections with other treatments, like PRP, for optimal results.
      • Safe and effective
      • Non-surgical
      • No significant downtime
      • Little to no pain (especially with use of numbing agents)

Sculptra is one of our procedures that does not carry the risk of skin discoloration. Unlike some of our facial rejuvenation procedures that utilize chemicals, heat, light or lasers, Sculptra Injections are ideal for individuals with darker skin tones. Sculptra is made from biocompatible, biodegradable material, making it generally safe for all skin types.

      Sculptra Injections and PRP

Sculptra Injections can be used alongside other skin rejuvenation procedures like Plasma Rich Plasma (PRP) injections. PRP is an anti-aging and healing breakthrough that safely utilizes the power of the platelets in your own blood for tissue regeneration and transformative healing and rejuvenation. PRP is obtained by taking the blood of the client and centrifuging it to obtain the growth factors in the blood. PRP has effectively been used to treat a wide variety of cosmetic and even medical conditions, including skin rejuvenation and hair loss. PRP uses growth factors in platelets to stimulate cell replication, promote formation of new growth factors, and stimulate proliferation of cells.

Combining Sculptra with PRP is commonly known as a PlasmaSculpt treatment.

Are Sculptra Injections right for me?

At your initial consultation, we will take a full medical history and evaluate the other skin rejuvenation options you've tried. Our team will determine together with you if you would be a good candidate for Sculptra Injections.

If you’ve tried other treatments that have not given you the results you seek, then you may be a good candidate for Sculptra Injections. Sculptra Injections, especially together with PRP, often succeed where other treatments may have failed before.

      FAQs

      Are Sculptra Injections painful?

Most people experience little to no discomfort, especially with the use of numbing agents.

      Are there any side effects?

We have many patients who experience no side effects at all. Almost everyone can wear makeup the day following the procedure, but it is recommended you stay out of the sun until your skin completely heals. Every patient is different, and some may see some swelling, heat or redness at the injection site, but these effects are only temporary and typically dissipate over 24 to 48 hours. Sculptra Injections have minimal side effects. In some cases, skin could be red and swollen for up to five days. An ice pack can be used to reduce irritation and discomfort.

How many treatments will I need?

The treatment regimen for Sculptra is typically three injections over the course of three or four months.

How long does one treatment take?

Depending on the size of the area being treated, treatments can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours. Your initial consultation may take longer as we will require extra time to complete your medical history. Also factor in the time required for the numbing agent to take effect and for your skin to be cleansed and disinfected following your procedure.

If PRP is involved, also allow time for your blood to be drawn and centrifuged and PRP to be administered. We will design your sessions to meet your aesthetic needs but also take into consideration your availability for sessions.

How long does it take to see results after my treatment?

Results can vary among individuals. You may begin to see progressive, visible results within the first few weeks after each treatment session.

      How long do results last?

The longevity of your effects and the number of treatments needed will depend on the specific condition being addressed and how long you’ve had these conditions. Results can last up to two years.

Can Sculptra Injections be used together with other treatments?

Yes. A good example is PRP. PRP’s regenerative effects work synergistically with Sculptra's collagen-stimulating properties.

      Are Sculptra Injections safe?

Sculptra Injections are less invasive than many aesthetic procedures, and certainly less invasive than cosmetic surgery, but it is still not completely without risk. Sculptra Injections have an excellent safety profile, but if you have certain allergies (e.g., to stainless steel), have hemostatic (bleeding) dysfunction, anemia, cancer, or blood clotting disorders, Sculptra Injections may be contraindicated.

If you have sores, irritated skin in the treatment area, or open wounds, treatment will be delayed until these skin issues are resolved. Also, if you are pregnant or nursing or taking certain medications, there may be reasons we need to delay treatment.

Also, Sculptra Injections are contraindicated for certain conditions like acne, psoriasis and eczema, as well as those prone to keloid formation.

We will discuss all of your safety concerns at our first session before proceeding with treatment.
