Chemical Peels at One Agora Integrative Health are customized to meet the needs of your skin type and concerns, utilizing chemical solutions that remove layers of dead skin, revealing the newer, smoother, younger-looking skin that lies beneath.
If you’re not familiar with chemical peels, they are used to perform light to deep exfoliation, causing the skin to actually “peel” off. Peels are most often used on your face, neck or hands, and peels can treat a variety of skin concerns - from acne and congested pores to sun damage, fine lines and even melasma.
We offer several different chemical peels at One Agora Integrative Health. A skin consultation with an aesthetician will ensure you receive the right procedure for your skin concerns. No matter which procedure you choose, our Aesthetic Nurse agrees that Winter is the best season in which to undergo any of our peels, including the Enlighten Peel and BioRePeel. Why? Let’s look at the top five reasons.
With Chemical Peels, you will enjoy immediate results after the healing period, but you will also experience how Chemical Peels can transform the appearance and health of your skin over time and slow aging. Don’t forget, spring and summer are when you will be showing off the most skin, and if you start now, you have time for as many chemical peels as you need to get ready to love the skin you’re in.

A prescription-strength chemical peel treatment, the Enlighten Peel is designed to address hyperpigmentation issues like melasma and sun damage. By not only exfoliating the skin but also inhibiting melanin production, the Enlighten Peel can:
For melanin inhibition, It contains key ingredients like hydroquinone that work to inhibit the production of melanin, the pigment that causes discoloration in your skin. Other ingredients like retinol and salicylic acid trigger cell turnover and help shed dead skin cells more quickly, revealing newer, brighter skin.
The Enlighten Peel process involves an in-office application of the chemical peel (typically 20-30 minutes), followed by an at-home, multi-step skincare routine.
Downtime? You will likely experience initial redness and swelling, typically lasting no more than two days. Light flaking and peeling should continue for one to two weeks as your dead skin sheds, revealing your fresh new skin.
What it treats? Hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, melasma, blotchy skin, sun damage, dull skin tone.
Special benefits? Considered safe for all skin tones, including darker skin, the Enlighten Peel is formulated to reduce the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Often referred to as the "no-peel peel" because it avoids the flaking associated with other peels, the BioRePeel is gentle enough for sensitive skin and can be used on the décolletage, face, neck and hands. It also offers biostimulatory properties, helping to rejuvenate and firm your skin by triggering the skin's natural regenerative processes and stimulating collagen and elastin production.
This gentle chemical peel treatment uses a blend of ingredients to exfoliate the skin's surface while also incorporating its biostimulating effect. It is a gentler alternative to traditional peels, designed for minimal to no downtime, with key ingredients that include:
Downtime? Minimal.
What it treats? Acne and acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, skin texture, dull or aging skin.
Special benefits? Designed to be a gentler treatment with minimal social downtime when compared to deeper chemical peels.
All of us tend to spend more time indoors during the winter, which aligns with all of the post-peel recommendations to avoid sun exposure and heat. Winter naturally makes recovery more convenient and less disruptive to your schedule of activities. You are indoors more normally in winter, and there are fewer UV rays to avoid even when you go outdoors. But even so, wear a wide-brimmed hat and use high-SPF sunscreen if you must go outside. You might not be able to see the sun, but the UV rays are still there.
Just remember to steer clear of those tempting hot showers, baths, hot tubs, heated pools, saunas and steam rooms for the first several days, as heat and sweat can irritate your healing skin and cause blistering or scarring. Avoid strenuous exercise, and use a cool compress for comfort, keeping showers short and lukewarm if possible.
Allow that cold, crisp air of winter to help calm your skin and reduce post-peel swelling and redness. The lower humidity levels in the winter can also prevent excessive sweating that might cause irritation.
Trust us when we tell you, for chemical peels, ‘tis the season.
