Unlike traditional dry-heat saunas that heat the air around you, an Infrared Sauna uses deeply penetrating infrared light to heat your body from within. This infrared spectrum of light is an invisible form of electromagnetic radiation that we experience as radiant heat. It is part of the sun's invisible spectrum, making up about half of the total solar energy that reaches our planet. It can be replicated with infrared lamps that create extremely beneficial physiological effects in an Infrared Sauna experience.
Infrared Saunas offer benefits beyond what traditional saunas can do. An Infrared Sauna experience is also gentler and causes less discomfort for individuals who are sensitive to the high temperatures in traditional saunas.
One Agora Integrative Health uses Infrared Sauna to treat a wide variety of health concerns – but even people who are extremely healthy can benefit from its array of benefits.
With Infrared Sauna, you can reap the benefits of heat therapy without the discomfort of extreme heat. Schedule your Infrared Sauna session today. Call ☎ (952) 234-5898 or contact us online to make an appointment.
Infrared Sauna is a type of sauna that uses infrared light to heat your body directly, rather than heating the air around you, as a traditional sauna does. An Infrared Sauna employs specialized heaters – known as infrared lamps - emitting radiant heat that penetrates deeply into the muscles, tissues and joints of your body.
It gently raises your body’s core temperature and triggers a deep, detoxifying sweat at lower ambient air temperatures than dry-heat saunas. These saunas usually operate at lower temperatures that range between 120˚F and 140˚F (49°C and 60°C). This typically ensures a sauna experience that is more tolerable for certain individuals who find the intense heat of traditional saunas intolerable.
Infrared Sauna is most commonly used to address the following health conditions:
It’s important to note that even people who have none of these health conditions can experience profound health benefits from Infrared Sauna sessions.
Infrared Saunas reduce oxidative stress, which is associated with conditions like cancer, cardiovascular disease, and even degenerative diseases like dementia. The benefits are so wide-ranging. Some benefits accrue over time while other benefits are immediate. All of them, however, are noninvasive, chemical-free, painless and easy.
Infrared Sauna benefits include the potential to:
Your body usually responds within just a few minutes. You should not feel overly heated as you would in a traditional dry-heat sauna, but you will begin to sweat. Your heart rate will increase, as will your blood flow. Internally, your blood vessels will widen. Your improved blood circulation can help speed up muscle recovery following physical activity. It can even relieve both acute and chronic pain conditions.
The experience of infrared sauna actually mimics exercise. Its physiological effects have been compared to what you might experience when walking at a moderate pace.
You should also begin to feel relaxed. Your mood may even improve. Infrared Sauna has been shown to improve anxiety, stress and depression.
Your Infrared Sauna will be provided in our office. The duration of your session will likely depend on the conditions being addressed and your goals but normally run 15-30 minutes. Your full appointment time may run longer if it’s your first session and involves a medical history and other new patient needs prior to your Infrared Sauna session.
You should not experience any pain, side effects or downtime from your Infrared Sauna. Your One Agora Integrative Health specialist will discuss any aftercare you might need.
One important aftercare tip: A quick shower after your Infrared Sauna will rinse off any toxins released during the session so they are not reabsorbed through your skin.
Infrared Sauna has a proven safety record. Your One Agora Integrative Health specialist will work with you to determine if Infrared Sauna is a good fit for you, but Infrared Sauna treatments are generally considered safe for most skin types, medical conditions, ages and genders.
It is important to begin with brief sessions to gauge how your body responds – perhaps even as short as five to ten minutes. Even as you become accustomed to infrared heat, it is important to not do sessions longer than 30 minutes. Limit your sessions to no more than three to four sessions per week.
It’s also important to stay hydrated before and after each session. An Infrared Sauna session can leave your body’s fluid levels low or even lead to a state of dehydration if you are not properly hydrated.
It may be contraindicated for some individuals with certain cardiovascular conditions or those taking medications that affect blood pressure. It is not advisable for people who are pregnant.
Most clients report seeing immediate results. Infrared Saunas can provide an impressive quick fix, but they are designed to be ongoing treatments for overall health and wellness. The long-term effects can be even more consequential.
Our Cocoon Personal Fitness POD System is designed for a fully immersive fitness and recovery experience, with technology that will optimize your wellness routine. Its dual heat, radiant heat and traditional dry heat features are all adjustable features.
